Dankó Pista

Raging passion, pulsating Gypsy music, and a love story that breaks all the rules – the most spectacular operetta show of all time awaits audiences on March 26, 2026 at the MVM Dome. The new operetta Dankó Pista, with music by Péter Pejtsik and a libretto by Dénes János Orbán, offers a glimpse into the romantic life of the king of Hungarian song.

The hero is the celebrated Gypsy violinist Dankó Pista, whose heart is stolen by a mysterious Russian princess. Among the characters appear Blaha Lujza, the Nightingale of the Nation, as well as the era’s most famous poets and writers: Endre Ady, Géza Gárdonyi, and Lajos Pósa.

With the stars of the Operetta Theatre and the participation of hundreds of dancers and musicians, this dazzling superproduction was created to stir the heart and shake the soul. Dankó’s best-known hits – Eltörött a hegedűm; Még azt mondják, nincs Szegeden boszorkány; Egy cica, két cica… – come to life again on the grand stage, as for one evening the entire arena floor of the MVM Dome is transformed into a stage. The production is directed by Yvette Bozsik, with costumes by Krisztina Berzsenyi and set and visual design by Attila Ferenczfy-Kovács – their collaboration guarantees an unforgettable experience.
